This is a Power Over Ethernet (PoE) enabled device and, as such, is sold without a PSU.
If you do not have PoE, you will need to purchase a separate Power Supply Unit.
This product is a Proprietary IP telephone which requires a Proprietary VoIP PBX telephone system to operate. This phone is not suitable for home use.

Overall assessment:
Although the Cisco 7942G is not a high end model in the range, you would be forgiven for believing it was. The 7942g has a large LCD display (black & white) giving you access to a host of features available from the system. With a fully duplex Speakerphone, you can make hands free phone calls, or use the headset port to connect a wide choice of corded and cordless headsets.
The Cisco 7942G has a few limitations though, a lack of gigabit connectivity being one. This makes it ideal for any user not requiring data to be downloaded to a PC via the 7942Gs 2 x Ethernet ports. This also explains why it has not optional expansion capabilities. You will need to look to the 7945G for these capabilities.
